About Me
As a child, I grew up in a small farming community in Iowa, where I attended a Catholic school much like SJB. As children, we tend to be unaware of how our surroundings shape and mold us. At this time, I can’t help but reflect on how my values and faith developed at a young age because of my Catholic education. It is refreshing to see this as a full-circle moment for me, as it reminds me of how important our work is every day to help our students grow to be strong in their faith, family, and academics.
I attended Iowa State University, receiving my Elementary Education degree with a reading minor. There, I met my husband, Brett. He is a financial advisor for Ameriprise Financial. We have been blessed with four children: Brianna, Caleb, Culley, and Drew. (In that crowd is a set of twins.) Our boys participated in many years of hockey, and our daughter was a soccer player. Last summer, we celebrated our daughter's wedding to her husband, Preston. He is an Army Captain, and they are currently stationed in Georgia.
While raising a family and caring for my elderly mother, Monica, I received my Master’s from Viterbo University. As my children graduated from high school, I started to think a bit more about my personal goal of becoming a principal. Long story short, I then received my Principal Certification from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. As I review the stepping stones that led me to this point, I see how God guided me through each part of this journey.
In my spare time, I like to read professional literature, write children's stories that I am working on publishing, and go for long walks and bike rides. My goal this summer is to go fishing a few times with my husband and boys. It’s not my favorite activity, but it does force me to slow down and enjoy a beautiful sunset.
